The Barsana year
Two days carry the year, Lathmar Holi in March and Radha Ashtami in September, and the whole town is built around them. The rest of the calendar is quieter and, for darshan, better. Dates follow the panchang and the temple's announcements; treat the 2027 ones as expected until Shriji confirms.

The day the whole hill climbs
On Radha Ashtami the queue for Shriji starts in the dark. The abhishek is in the morning, the lanes fill by eight, and the fairground below the hill runs into the night. In 2026 the administration split the fair into seven zones and twenty sectors, put up 88 barriers and laid on three thousand police for an expected 25 lakh devotees.
- Stay in Barsana the night before; the town is barricaded early on the day
- Darshan before dawn or after the evening aarti, not in between
- Elderly parents: the ropeway queue is long on the day; the eve is kinder
- A local lead with your group, a meeting point, and water
